Mamma Roma
Synopsis
A former prostitute moves to Rome with her teenage son after her pimp marries. In Rome she fights to make a man out of her son, but when he learns of her past he reverts to become a thieving thug.
When he is caught stealing in a hospital he is send to prison where he dies from a fever causing his mother indescribable grief.
Impression
Anna Magnani is extremely powerful and almost steals the film, however the son, played by an amateur, is also great. The film is a strong portrayal of love and devotion of a mother and the folly and fickleness of youth.
